PPAO Opposes Anti-Democracy Ballot Measures 103 and 104

As advocates for affordable health care and comprehensive sex education in public schools, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon knows the importance of protecting stable, adequate funding that ensures all Oregonians can access the services they deserve to help them stay healthy. PPAO strongly believes every Oregonian deserves health care, regardless of their race, income, geography, immigration status, sexual orientation or gender identity.

That is why we are urging a NO vote on these anti-democracy ballot measures, which would take options off the table for healthcare funding by permanently altering our tax code and changing how the Legislature makes fiscal policy:

Too many Oregonians remain uninsured — disproportionately people of color, the LGBT community and low-wage workers. Many of them are patients at Planned Parenthood. For all of them across Oregon, vital treatment is out of reach without stable, adequate public revenue. Please join us in voting NO on Ballot Measures 103 and 104.

A ruling today by a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit allows the Trump administration’s dangerous and unethical Title X gag rule to take effect in every state but Maryland. The gag rule makes it illegal for healthcare providers in the Title X program to refer patients for abortion, and it blocks access to care at Planned Parenthood by imposing cost-prohibitive and unnecessary “physical separation” requirements.
