PPAO Endorses Affordable Housing Measures 102 and 26-199

At Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon, we know that stable housing is a social determinant of health. Large rent increases mean families spend more of their income on housing, and less on other basic necessities like health care. Four in ten Oregonians rent their home; this translates to roughly 1.5 million people in our state being potentially vulnerable to unpredictable housing changes. Moreover, these practices disproportionately impact families of color, worsening inequities and pulling communities apart.

That is why we are endorsing the statewide Ballot Measure 102 and the regional Metro Ballot Measure 26-199, which will ensure safe, affordable housing for more working families, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities throughout our region.

Housing affects health outcomes and is an underlying, contributing factor of health inequities in Oregon. Planned Parenthood patients rely on stable homes in order to live healthy, successful lives, in which they are able to access the health care they need. Please join us in voting YES on Ballot Measures 102 and 26-199.

Trump-Pence Gag Rule Will Have Devastating Impact on Oregon Women

The Trump-Pence administration today released a domestic gag rule, which will dismantle the nation’s family planning program and put millions of people’s health at risk.

This gag rule makes it impossible for Planned Parenthood health centers to participate in the Title X program at all. Planned Parenthood serves 41 percent of the people who rely on Title X for care in Oregon, meaning the new restrictions will have a devastating impact on care across the state.
