Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon Opposes Ballot Measure 105

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon Opposes Ballot Measure 105

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon believes that the right to access health care and the ability to stay with your family are essential to living a happy and complete life. No one’s health should be compromised because of their immigration status.

That is why we’re urging voters to oppose Ballot Measure 105, which would throw out Oregon’s sanctuary state law, a law that has been working for more than 30 years to protect Oregonians from unfair racial profiling. If Ballot Measure 105 passes, it could open the door to racial profiling and families being torn apart, simply because someone is perceived to be an undocumented immigrant.

As one of the nation’s leading healthcare providers, Planned Parenthood is proud to see patients regardless of their immigration status. We see firsthand how harsh immigration enforcement can stand in the way of families accessing health care: They will forgo the care they need to preserve their own safety and economic security for their families. Measure 105 contributes to immigrants’ already very real fear of deportation and family separation, and continues to drive more and more people into the shadows, making it harder to work, access health care and live a full life.

Immigrants are a vital part of the Planned Parenthood community; they are our patients, volunteers, activists, supporters, educators, clinicians and staff. They make our country better, stronger and more vibrant. Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon will not silently stand by as they are stripped of their rights and protections.

We’re proud to be part of Oregonians United Against Profiling, the statewide coalition working to defeat Measure 105. Please follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and pledge to vote NO on Ballot Measure 105.
