Tix on Sale for 2018 Courageous Voice Breakfast with Sonya Renee Taylor!

Since 2011, the Courageous Voice Breakfast has celebrated brave leaders who speak truth in the face of hostility. In the wake of the Me Too movement and the Shout Your Abortion campaign, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon believes it’s more important than ever to harness our collective power and amplify our stories.

Keynote speaker Sonya Renee Taylor is an award-winning performance poet and activist who is the founder of The Body Is Not an Apology, an international movement and organization committed to radical self-love and body empowerment as the foundational tool for social justice and global transformation. She serves on the Board of Directors for SisterSong, a pioneering reproductive justice collective for women of color.

Believing in the power of art as a vehicle for social change, Sonya has been widely recognized for her work as a change agent. In 2015 she was named one of Planned Parenthood’s 99 Dream Keepers and one of Planned Parenthood Generation Action’s Outstanding Partners. Her work has been seen on HBO, BET, MTV, NPR, PBS, CNN, The New York Times, Ms. Magazine and The Huffington Post.

We will also proudly present the Marilyn Epstein Pro-Choice Champion Award and the Volunteer Excellence Award to honor longtime leaders of our movement.
