PPAO Volunteer Fights for the Next Generation

PPAO Volunteer Fights for the Next Generation

“Volunteering with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon has been such a powerful and rewarding experience for me. At age 18 I became pregnant unexpectedly and was faced with a tough decision, and Planned Parenthood was there for me no matter what I chose. I went through with my pregnancy and had my daughter at a young age, and I felt supported in this decision. Planned Parenthood has continued to help me with pregnancy prevention throughout my adulthood, and I have been so grateful for access to reproductive health care regardless of my age, income level or insurance status.

“My daughter is now 9 years old, and I have begun teaching her about reproductive justice and the ongoing battle for women’s reproductive rights, which is a bittersweet process. It’s never fun to tell your daughter she will have to fight for her rights as a woman, but it’s essential in our society today to show young women how to get involved in women’s rights advocacy work. Volunteering at the PAC phone bank was a fun experience for the two of us. We were able to see direct results of our hard work making calls and collecting donations. We plan to continue volunteering in order to contribute toward maintaining access to women’s health care.”

Gaia Bullock serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon’s Health Center Advocacy Program.

Planned Parenthood Leaders in Oregon Condemn Kavanaugh Confirmation

Just now, the Senate voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States. By doing so, senators ignored the outpouring of opposition to Kavanaugh’s nomination, evidence that he would gut Roe v. Wade if confirmed, allegations of sexual assault, questions about the honesty of his answers to questions under oath and serious concerns about his ability to be impartial and unbiased on the highest court of the land.

Today’s vote followed misleading and deeply ...
