Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon Endorses Kate Brown for Governor

Governor Brown at Planned Parenthood Day of Action

Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon today announced its endorsement of Kate Brown for election as Governor in 2016.

"Kate Brown is a steadfast and effective champion of women's rights and empowerment. She combines an unwavering commitment to reproductive freedom with keen policy insight and a collaborative, caring approach to leadership," said Kamala Shugar of Eugene, Board Chair of Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon.

"Oregonians are fortunate to have leaders like Kate Brown who understand that when women succeed, Oregon succeeds," said Jillian Schoene of Portland, Board Secretary of Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon. "Governor Brown has stood with us, and we are proud to stand with her."

Brown began her career in the 1980s as an advocate working with the Women's Rights Coalition to pass numerous bills promoting women's health, protecting against domestic violence and improving economic fairness for women in the family and in the workplace. Thanks to her insight, persistence and ability to build and deploy effective partnerships, Oregon became one of the first states in the country to allow parents to stay home with their sick family members without fear of losing their jobs.

Shortly after joining the Legislature in 1991, Brown helped found the Oregon Women's Health and Wellness Alliance, a coalition that has passed multiple laws to improve the lives and health of women and their families across the state. Since then, she has been a leader in standing up for Planned Parenthood and protecting access to health care, even in the toughest of economic and political times:

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Oregon (PPAO) announced today that Emily McLain will serve as its new Executive Director. She will make her first appearance at the 2018 Courageous Voice Breakfast on May 30th in Portland, and will officially join the staff on June 13th.
