Save the Date for Uncorked: Wine, Women & Song!

Save the Date for Uncorked: Wine, Women & Song!

Spring is such a wonderful time to celebrate women’s health. And that’s just what the Lane County Leadership & Advocacy Team is looking to do at Uncorked: Wine, Women & Song.

This event will feature special guest speaker Judith Arcana as well as music by the popular neo-tango ensemble Mood Area 52 and the jazzy Tonewood Trio. We'll also have a silent auction with lots of goodies, delicious wine, tasty hors d'oeuvres and tons of smiles.

Judith Arcana is a writer of poems, stories, essays and books and a longtime scholar, teacher and activist. She is a Jane, a member of the Chicago underground service that helped more than 11,000 women and girls access safe, illegal abortion before the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Roe v. Wade in January 1973. She's a skilled presenter who has worked with audiences in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada, often visiting campus and community groups to talk about reproductive justice and to perform her powerful writing. Judith’s poems, stories and essays have been published widely for more than 30 years.

Mood Area 52 started in 1998 as a Piazzolla-inspired neo-tango and silent film score ensemble. Since then, the group has morphed into an ensemble defined more by instrumentation and mood than genre. Their most recent releases, “Company Town” and “1952 Philanski House,” blend roots rock, instrumental tango, jazz, blues, Balkan influences, ranchera, American folk, country, Brechtian cabaret and classical music.

With three friends who value subtlety and tastefulness above all in music, Tonewood Trio formed as a way to express these values with their shared love of jazz, the Great American Songbook, folk revival and the popular music of the past 50 years.

Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon: Buehler Video Insults All Oregon Women

Yesterday Knute Buehler posted a campaign video that misrepresents his anti-abortion voting record and that contains an outrageous allegation against Governor Kate Brown, with one supporter claiming, “Knute cares more about women than Kate Brown does — and she’s a woman.” The video, titled “Women’s Health,” fails to disclose that the “Independent” voter is a former employee for Buehler.

Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon strongly condemns the video as misleading and irresponsible for covering up Buehler’s record of ...
